Looking back.

Going back to the beginning of this year i didn't really have any expectations of how my life should be going,i did however have hopes and dreams and that's all i really took with me.i had hope of having a relationship, meeting HIM,being happy, and having new friends.
i had no boyfriend, and i was happy on most days of this year, plans never go according to plan.every step you take leads you to a whole new place,a dream,a person,an action, and emotion.
i did however meet HIM and i also got to do things that i never expected,i met and hung out with The Dudesons,i started college and met new people with new stories,i made art that moved me,read new books that inspired me,heard new music that helped me express myself,i reunited with my dog Tink who i hadn't seen for two years.yes,i had my moments where i was let down and sad,but at the end of the day i still had the good things that did happen to me this year.
i dunno what this year has to offer but i'm sure as hell going to accept whatever comes my way.

remember New Years doesn't mean that you have a whole new life,'cos when you awake after that night of drinks and partying, you may still have that grudge you have on a person, you may still hurt from what someone has done to you,you will awake with the past still lingering.it's up to you to make the move and make a new start, and it doesn't always have to begin on the new year,it can start on any day that you decide.

i wish you all the best on the upcoming year!and have a lot of fun :)

    of the year!

The new year is still wrapped in the foil of future, just like this sign, but in a few hours the foil will dissolve and we will all see what the new year has in store for us. Hopefully only good things! I wish all of you a fantastic start into the new year.

    Happy New Year!!!

San Jose Engagement Photographer :: Monica & Josh

An afternoon on a swing with your main squeeze. Near Zen.

Monica & Josh will be marrying in just a few weeks here. "The Sauce" will be documenting. Best part about this one is that it will be at my home church here in San Jose: First Church San Jose. Looking forward to it guys!!

On a completely different note, my boys and I have 200 pets. What kind you ask? 200 praying mantis. Long story short, the boys caught a praying mantis in the yard several weeks back. A friend came over and though the best way to help it drink water is to pour a gallon of water on it. It died. :( After some reseach, I found some folks online that sell mantis eggs. It was sent in the mail and hatched just a few days ago. We have 200 additions to the family now. Photo to come soon!

Thoughts On A Sofa

Buying a sofa (or couch) can be complicated. It seems so easy to say "I am going to buy a sofa", but, like buying a car, it has to be the right fit for who you are and what you expect it to do.

We all want a sofa to be comfortable, but we all sit differently......and we are all different sizes. For myself, I like to sit curled up against the left side of the sofa; I don't like to sit up straight, and I like the seat to be quite deep, enveloping me so that I feel all cocooned and cozy. I like a straight back, with lots of pillows that I can move to fit where I am. Too much extra padding, while always more comfortable, can add a lot of unnecessary bulk to a sofa. Always measure before arranging for a piece to be delivered. Having a smaller, older house means that my doors are narrow, and some pieces of furniture need to be taken apart to get them inside. Actually, some don't fit at all, and have to be returned, whereas others have to wait on the front lawn while someone removes a door, unscrews the legs or takes out a very large window.

A sofa should fit your home. Do you want it to be formal or casual? Will you have children and pets sitting on it a lot? How many people need to sit on it?Would you like a modern, simple design or a rounded, squishy one? Will a pattern look nice in your home, or would a simple color be better? Did you know that Leather can feel cold, or that Microsuede leaves imprints when you sit on it? How big will the imprint be? Are you ok with that?

Of course, the list of questions is endless, and never make yourself crazy about a decorating decision, but it does warrant a little bit of thought. My best advice is to always sit on a sofa before you buy it, and remember, most importantly, it should fit your bottom AND your life.

More snow

It just keeps on snowing. And as much as I like snow, I would love to pack my stuff and fly to Hawaii right now!!!

In case you are wondering, this is Dresden, where I had an interview two weeks back, which went really well and lead to ... ah, no, sadly no job. However, cool city.

Meet Lola!

    Meet Lola
    Lola's cover
Lola is my beautiful new Singer sewing machine I got from Santa this Christmas!
    I named her Lola because it's what I would've named a daughter if I had one ;)
My other machine died (R.I.P.) from a fall a few months ago.
She's the one on my blog banner.
The machine cover I had made for it didn't fit Lola so I'm making her a new one :)
I dyed a yard or so of natural canvas into a military green color that I love
mixing olive green, black & a little bit of brown store bought fabric dye.
I cut patchwork birds out of 100% wool felt and attached them by hand
using blanket stitch and a few french knots
with my favorite stash of vintage crewel wool I bought a few years ago
from my dear friend Carlene's Etsy Shop.
I might turn the old cover into a new pillow. I'm so happy to be sewing again :)

Walt Disney Concert Hall Wedding :: Janette & Joel

"You mean to tell me, people put you on a plane, fly you to them just to take pictures of them AND they give you money!?"

    ~Sam's Mom

Shot this one at the renown Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. You might remember Janette and Joel from their Gharadelli Square engagement session from several months back. They came up from LA to see me. This time I went to them AND I brought backup. Had the company of my very good friend Ed Pingol on this one as second shooter. On top of being pure class, the man is a wizard behind the lens. I've noted the images he took below.

Janette and Joel, thanks for having me. REALLY want to say thank you to Lance, (best man) who recommend this couple to me and had enough confidence in our work to shoot his best friends wedding. Many thanks for hosting us man. Onto the show!!
