Making stuff with a view

I changed the position of my desk on sunday
to get a better view of the gorgeous Moctezuma tree outside.
The leaves mobile was made from three placecards
I kept from our Thanksgiving dinner.
It's hanging from my lamp :o)
I made myself two little purses this week.
The orange one is knit & the other is just sewn wool fabric
with appliques of wool felt, inspired by the pillow I made for my friend Ana.
They both have natural color linen liners inside.
I got the idea from Martha Stewart's Holiday Handmade Gifts Special issue

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Setting the mood for Thanksgiving...

Matt Williams, Ancestral Mountains

I was recently commissioned to photograph portraits of Matt Williams who runs the Kung Fu school I now attend. He was after a friendly face to conteract peoples preconceptions of Kung Fu being all about hitting and kicking and aimed to use the portraits as part of a campaign to get people through the door to experience all the mental and physical development side of Kung Fu that aids fitness, relaxation and general well being as well as being a useful form of self defence.

He did not however want to appear too soft either. We ended up shooting a series of straight kung fu greeting poses and some more elaborate styled images with the swords.

My "Thank you God" list:

Daniel's 9th. Birthday!

Even though it rained and we had to have the party indoors,
    Daniel's 9th. birthday was a BIG success,
we lit up the fireplace, roasted marshmallows, the little guys played and played and played.
The kids loved their goodie bags filled with chocolate and some small little toys.
I made them the week before, out of wool felt.
A different one for each boy and girl.

Daniel LOVED the present we got for him...
I'll post his creations as soon as they dry up :o)
