Illustration Friday: REMEMBER

    Watercolor on paper
baked fresh for today's Illustration Friday.

    AMAZING FACT:
Birds remember exactly where they've hidden
thousands of seeds each autumn and find their way back
to their stashes using the sun, stars, landmarks
and sometimes the magnetic pull of the earth
    to guide them.

Wool Tote

Front page!

More of my freelance work today.
I made this watercolor illustration for the Wilmington Star
and it landed on the cover of the sunday paper edition
    and I couldn't be any happier :o)
I'm jumping up and down as a matter of fact!
Nicole Neuman did the awesome graphic design
and helped me so much with the idea for the illo.
It was a huge challenge for me to think outside my "cute little birdies and flowers" world...
but toghether we pulled it off! Thanks Nicole :o)

A Host of Golden Daffodils

One of my favourite poems is Wordsworth's Daffodils and whilst photographing the lovely Anna & Alan's wedding in Clapham and then a reception at Hampton Court on March 31st, I was lucky enough to be greeted by such a sight. I'm sure in years to come Anna & Alan will reguarly revisit Hampton Court, see those daffodils, remember their wedding day and in Wordsworth words:

"And then my heart with pleasure fills,
    And dances with the daffodils".

Their wedding was a lovely relaxed day with beautiful spring sunshine, which bride and groom and guests alike made full use of. After a personal and emotional church service the couple relaxed with their guests on the church steps for a mini reception before a London Red Bus gathered up the guests and took them to Hampton Court.

The Garden Room at Hampton Court housed the reception with its own private secluded garden where everyone could play croquet and connect four amongst others and then just a short walk revealed the main gardens awash with Spring blossom and daffodils.

Anna has some finishing touches applied

Anna looks radiant through her veil

Alan looks very dapper in top hat and tails

Arriving at the church and just catching the perfect light

Alan doesn't look too nervous as his bride waits outside

Deep in thought during one of the readings

    I do

Theres something so nice about a just married couples first steps into the light together

The veil gets carried away in the wind

    Me?

A romantic stroll through the daffodils

I really like the landscape composition here

Anna looks just lovely in this shot

One of my favourite shots with the lens flare, family group and Hampton Court

Very personal detail shot, handwritten, I really like that.

First dance and what a dance, must have practiced for months

Graceful couple and sweeping natural light, beautiful.

The happy couple outside Hampton Court, good of them to raise the flag!

One final thing, throwing the bouquet...Source URL: http://lifestyleartsblogs.blogspot.com/2007/04/

Illustration Friday: POLAR Part two

Illustration Friday: POLAR

    An oldie...but a goody
(I've posted this before )This polar bear was part of our homeschool Christmas decorations.
It was created with cutout sandblasted 3M plastic self adhesive film,
that I drew directly on the window.
You can see the whole set of windows I created if ou click here.
I will be making a new illo for this week's theme later this weekend.
    Have a beautiful day everyone!
    Thanks for visiting my blog.

Live stump

More experimenting...today I tried using my white acrylic ink
on wood veneer and it worked really great.
    I even applied some watercolor
like in the other kraft pieces and it also worked out fine.
I'll be doing some illos on veneer this week
    and experiment some more.
    I *heart* woodgrain.

April Sunshine

One of my favourite Prince songs is called 'Sometimes it Snows in April', well I guess it's looking pretty unlikely this year in England. Global warming or not, it seems like there could be some pretty hot months ahead for photographers and wedding parties alike. It will be interesting to see how future brides and grooms adapt if this trend continues - will we start to see more couples chancing beach and outdoor weddings in this country from now on?

Never one to complain about the weather it was my sons third birthday this week so we took him down to his favourite beach in East Wittering to get his toes wet. Not one to miss out, our little girl enjoyed the green grass of home later in the day.

    How very 'English' of him...
