Spent my Sunday at Syuen Hotel again because Dad's Lions Club function and meetings were held for 3 days.
Woke up early Sunday morning, went to Syuen Hotel with mom for brekky as Dad have extra breakfast coupons. Met Lion William and PDG Kenneth Saw, so we sat together and have our meal. Oh my Lord, I am freaky sleepy and I hardly open my eyes. *yawn* After brekky, went to Dad's room for a hour nap. *yea, after brekky->sleep, FAT!* Both me and mom were totally worn out, we both took a nap until 11am then headed to town to collect the Ipoh famous Kaya Puff for a lioness.
Get back to Syuen Hotel on time for the 1145am Motivational Talk conducted by famous speaker Dato' Lawrence Chan. It is our pleasure to have him give free talks to us as he has a hectic schedule which is FULLY BOOKED as mentioned by him. He usually conduct courses where people pay him for. Oh ya, wondering who is this guy? Click here to know more about him. He is a humorous and humble speaker. By the way, he is a good joker too. You will definitely never missed out any funny tales from him, if u attended his talk.
Well, Dad was great as he successfully convinced Dato' to present at the dinner and the talk on Sunday. Dato' Lawrence's friends were asking how Lion Hudson manage to persuade him to present for this Lions Club function. Dato' told us, he was impressed with Dad's Lions Club theme for fiscal year 2010-2011 "Serve with PASSION". Therefore, during his talk, his presentation with PPS was actually about PASSION & LOVE.
It is my honour to attend talks given by him, although it is just some simple motivational talks, not even into depth of any management talks or so, but I found it an interesting one. In a couple of hours, I learnt alot from Dato'. I love quotes spelled out by him, love the way he talks and presents, full with confidence! *although he told us he was a very shy person, not used to be interviewed* He told us about his journey of life as well, how he come across everything and how he became a successful person today.
Dato' Lawrence Chan came from an average family, both parents were working for the "orang putih" those days, during world war days. He told us he was an active kid in schooling days, took up alot of co-curriculum such as bands, badminton, etc. He was a safe guard at Kinta Swimming Club too.
Dato' was an awesome speaker, he makes all of us laughed and he said he made people cry as well. He is just an ordinary man, having Tony Fernandes as one of his good friend. Close with Tunku those day, that's why he knows how Malaya came out. He got a cute little granddaughter, always giving him a High 5! One thing I noticed about him was he always stay positive and have a very good patience on everything, tolerated very good as well. Hope to join his short courses or talks in future. Thank you Dato' Lawrence Chan!Source URL: http://lifestyleartsblogs.blogspot.com/2010/07/day-with-yb-dato-lawrence-chan.html

Dato' said on his beginning of carrier, he worked hard 6 days per week, 18hrs per day, slept for only 3hrs. Because he finds "Life is exciting, sleep comes second". You can sleep longer when it is the time to SLEEP.
Another funny tale from Dato' : People hardly believe GOD can help them, so they seldom pray to GOD. But, when the people encounter problems, they shouted OH MY GOD! When it comes to exam, the students pray hard everyday to the GOD. On the exam day, they look up GOD for INSPIRATION, look down for DESPERATION, look side for INFORMATION. * GOD wonders why these people kacau kacau ah? haha* All of us laughed out of our lung when listened to his jokes.Still a lot more to name.....
