I suspect you could be taking this just a little too seriously, David.

So what do you think it should have?

Will only a redesign make it a real new phone? I think its great that Apple has had three good designs now. Some build up is necessary, otherwise the public will only look for redesigns and nothing else.

It will be a new phone with updated specs and maybe the casing. That's all it needs. When I said "that's about it," it wasn't a negative thing. When it comes to an iPhone, if they made those enhancements, that's plenty to guarantee another year of success. Especially alongside iOS 5.

    Hi Redeye,

I have come accross another bug, or it's my dual G5... or Atszyman is spoking me out! Like he's ever gonna catch up with me!
This is the case: I have three folding widgets running for over a week now, no problem in that week. I have three because I want to monitor someone behind me (Atszyman) and my next overtake in front of me. But when I just looked all three widgets where on Atszyman.

I had this problem too. It must be how it stores the data.

I don't have experience with FM radio docks. But I have read very good reviews about iHome docks that include FM radios.

As the saying goes at Apple: "If you can't beat'em, dual'em"

I say whatever it takes to keep up. Doesn't bother me that there are two CPU's under the hood. Anyways I am sure that OS X is way more optimized for dual Processors than Windows 2000 or XP. Having OS X far outways the slight difference in hardware performance. OS X is specifically designed for Macs, and optimized to take full advantage of the hardware. No one that has a Dell, Compaq, Gateway...etc... can say the same thing about Windows. The only way that would happen is if Microsoft came out with a special Intel version of Windows or AMD version. Never gonna happen. I know most of you already know this but I just thought I'd throw it out there again.

Saw the story about the price cut, while on break (ironically I work at Target, where we have been receiving a lot of the IPad 1 16/wifi's lately, and selling them as fast as we were getting them in at $399.99) and got out of work at 8:30 went straight to the Verizon store, and bought the last 16 they had.

They of course tried to up sell me cases, mifi, keyboards, applecare, and I said no, and the rep went to page two of the handbook, meanwhile she did not even know the price was cut, until I informed her, as she told me there is not much price difference between the 1 and the 2, I consider $200 a lot. :p

yeah, my best friend actually has an M11x R2. I love it, but still, at how compact the 11" Air is, I'm surprised it can max out Portal 2 easily.

Just got Portal (1) for free (OEM Alienware Gift or something like that) and it does run well on both my AW and my Air.

If replacement SSD prices dropped, this would replace my alienware as my on-the-go machine.

This thing surprises me to no end. MW2 at 20~30fps is nothing to scoff at, especially since it only has an ULV C2D and an IGP.

Only thing I miss is the bl kb.

Almost all people in this thread sound like they want to buy a Mac mini (MBA), but want at the same time the features of a Mac Pro (MBP). Silly.

Yeah, this is the MBA-forum, but it does not make this discussion thread better.

Wanting a backlit keyboard isn't as unreasonable as you think it is... esp since the previous gen Air had it.

Apart from the backlit keyboard, choice of screen (which is also larger), aluminium casing, expresscard.

Some aren't that convinced that it's worth the extra coin though, and I can empathise with that view too.

OSX alone is worth spending 10 grand on a laptop. We are so lucky to have this capitalism thing. Otherwise with communism a Mac will indeed cost a year's harvest of grain.

    1) 4G
    2) USB 3.0
    3) Thunderbolt
    4) up to 8GB ram option

Mainly 1 and 2 but 3 and 4 would be nice as well. Don't give a hoot about BL keyboards. I always turn it off as it sucks power.

You'd rather USB 3 than Thunderbolt? Why would you want a slower IO rather than a freaking awesome super duper fast IO? Not sure why everyone wants USB 3 rather than Thunderbolt- hype? And don't give me it's gonna be the next FW BS.

The point of PP seems to be to get rid of the consequences

PP offers a too easy fix to people's indiscretion

Do a basic examination of # of abortions each year vs how many people visit PP each year.

Let's get that ratio first from you. That's not even considering PP doesn't do every single abortion.

Or how about the lack of pictures? This had photo op written all over it, but we the taxpayer only get one picture? I think the number of pictures were limited due to Steve Jobs current condition.

It could be a body double. Or even Photoshopped, with the rest of the people at the table sworn to secrecy on pain of death.

I really want .mac, but it's just not compelling enough.

I keep my bookmarks sync'd between my Mac at home and my PC at work in Firefox with Foxmarks. Free extension.

I use gmail and yahoo for webmail. 2+gb of storage each. I'm debating which to stick with for calendar. I can use gmail and sync ical to it right now. However someone is already starting a service ( will let you completely sync Google cal and ical by being able to make changes to both (effectively duplicating what .mac gives you)

I could convert another gmail account into storage space with a plug in. Right now I use mediamax ( for 25gb of FREE storage.

Flickr offers ways to publish right from iphoto for a very easy and free way to share photos online.

So for me to cough up the dough, .mac needs more, much more.

All of the above are compeltely valid points. However, there are two large weaknesses to this idea.

First, you're assuming that .mac users want to use Firefox as their browser. Many of us believe strongly that Safari is a better browser. I don't use plugins or extensions - I want my browser clean, slick, and simple. I like my fonts to appear the way they're intended. I was my interface consistent with the rest of my Apps.

Second, and more importantly, look at what you've done in each point. You've addressed each of .mac's features using a separate third party. Sure, you can duplicate any number of the features elsewhere. The reason .mac is useful is because it's all in one place. For many users, the idea of having to to Google for their Mail, Flickr for their photos, MediaMax for their storage, and all the while depend on third-party plugins to make it go round... it all just sounds like a headache. Sure, if you know what you're doing it works fine. But $8.25 a month really isn't that much for the simplicity and ease-of-use that .mac offers the average user.

Sure, we'd all love to see .mac get better. And I'm sure in time it will, but let's stop hating on it so much. For the day-to-day user, .mac is a great tool, simple and easy to use, and really isn't all that expensive in the scheme of things. It's two latte's a month... big deal.

WTF? Why does the MS Office updater force me to quit chrome ????

This update also makes you quit Safari too. I would like to know what the reasoning is there. hmmm

The first time I read the title, I thought that Apple has made Soundbooth app. After re-reading it, I realized it was Adobe who made it

Photobooth, Soundbooth, dont they look familiar? ;)

How did they make a x86-only app for OS X? I though the only way app can be compiled for Intel OS X is use of UB format! Guess I was wrong...

Anyway, I dont need this SoundPooth, I'm happy with my Soundtrack Pro :D
