DVD's are obviously pretty profitable or they wouldnt bother selling them, so what they are saying is if the movie companies let Apple sell movies they are gonna cut off their noses to spite their face and pull a really profitable sales line? I dont think so - ********* idiots.
Actually not really. I use to sell them in my store.
I'm sure they get a better deal then us but not that much better.

Normal DVD retail is like this.
    DVD normal sells $24.95
DVD wholesale would be around $19.95
If I bought a case I would get them for $16.95.

This doesn't help when Best Buy and Target and Wal-Mart sell them at 19.95 for the very first week! I'm lucky if I make 5 bucks on DVD sales...then factor in shipping costs of the DVD's.

Selling DVD's is like selling comic have to sell massive amounts of them to make any kind of money.

I figure Target and Wal-Mart make around 3-5 bucks on each DVD they sell.
Some folks ask us to match Wal-Marts and Targets and Best Buy pricing...but we can't normally. We can't even make any money of them now.

I once had a DVD for sale. It was priced at 24.95. I paid 19.95 for it. I marked it down to move it. Guy comes in to tell me Best Buy sells the same DVD for 14.99!

Engadget points ( to a new video posted ( on Vietnamese site apparently claiming to show a white iPhone 4 running a "test version" of iOS offering Expose-like multitasking that allows users to select running apps from a grid of nine screenshot thumbnails. You can tap on a window to expand it (replete with animation) to fill the screen or long-press on it to bring up the familiar "x" button for shutting it down. This is all accompanied by a new "Search iPhone" dialog at the very top, which sends you into Spotlight search that looks very much the way it currently does (though it seems to no longer be accessible with a left swipe from the first homescreen as on previous versions of iOS).While the apparently all-white home button and a passing similarity of the multitasking feature to the jailbreak tool multifl0w ( suggest that this could simply be a customized iPhone 4 running jailbreak software.

But a second video posted to the same YouTube account and noticed by 9 to 5 Mac ( offers more detail of what may in fact be a prototype iPhone. The device in the second video may be different than the one in the first video, as the second one seems to have a more standard white home button with black square inside.

The second video clearly shows an "XX GB" marking on the back along with a number of "X" placeholders in model identifiers, common for prototype devices. A walkthrough of the "About" screen in iOS shows, however, that the model carries 64 GB of storage.

Interestingly, a partial glimpse of the iOS build number can be seen as the "About" screen is shown, and the device appears to be running iOS 4.0 with a build number beginning with 8A as would be expected. Consequently, this does appear to be a test version of iOS 4.0 rather than an upcoming iOS 5 build, although Apple could of course choose to implement some of these features in future iOS releases.

The device also appears to contain several preloaded applications internally used by Apple for diagnostics, testing, and demoing, lending additional legitimacy to the claims.

Are you arguing that the multitasking pane doesn't have clear differentiation from the home screen? I thought giving it a different texture, pushing the home screen up out of the way, and requiring a quick double-press to bring it up accomplished that.

He's just a troll who tried it once and walked away an expert critic.

So Apple is probably already compatible with its USBA to 30 pin adaptor cable, and if not then a supplied Micro USB to 30 pin would be fine.

ah, ok! thanks for pointing that out! allthough i'd preffer a micro usb port ;)

    Any UI/Software/Dashboard changes?

I don't mind the new design. I think I'll probably get one in a year or so when I move out.

This comparison is garbage. The reviewer took a 13" MBP 2011 with a 2.3 GHz i5, 4GB and 128GB SSD and compared it to a 11" MBA with 1.4 GHz, 2GB and 64GB SSD. I would have liked to see him put a 13" MBA with 2.1Ghz and 4GB, I don't think the differences would have been so dramatic.

There is no way a decision to purchase a SB MBA should be influenced by such a lopsided comparison.

he should have done so with an 11" ultimate at least. the 4GB ram makes a hella big difference when opening all the apps. Obviously with 2GB ram it runs the chance of paging to file

I wonder what do they discuss and what is the conclusion?

Considering how nearly all of those CEOs are solidly in the tank for Obama, and given how increasingly unpopular B. Hussein is becoming, his presidential re-election and prostrating himself for campaign contributions was likely the top priority.

Oh ... after prawn and champagne, there might have been some idle talk of technology and Jobs.

Conclusion? All that "genius" and not one of them cares about U.S. history and the dangers in repeating its mistakes. It's a shame that wealth has blinded nearly all of them to the danger of statism. It's too bad the innovation by this small, powerful, (and ideologically ignorant) group of elitists is restricted to technology.

The rest of the country is hurting. Gas and food prices rising, housing market crippled, jobless rate still 10%, bailout after bailout, billions and billions spent on a failed "stimulus" that did nothing but line Obama cronies' pockets, a health care "overhaul" that will obliterate not only the health care in the U.S., but the rest of the economy with it, US foreign policy incompetent, our troops' hands tied in Afghanistan - with no directive to really win there. Oh yeah ... give us 4 more years of this? Pass the caviar, Steve.

And there they sit ... Cheers to the community organizer-in-chief! How about we focus on the cancer that affects more than just Apple stock. No ... not Steve Jobs' illness. Something far more virulent ... America's. The blight of liberalism. How about we talk about how time and time again, it's utterly failed to do anything but grow an already bloated government, destroy liberty, personal property, and worsen an economy that used to be second-to-none?

    Bon Appetit!

I'm seeing far improved start-up times and responsiveness in both Word and Excel. That's all I need for a service pack to have been worthwhile!

I wasn't very fond of the utility panels on Mac OS X until I discovered that most of them were the same across a number of applications. After that I kind of love them for their consistency.

And for the record, I hate the cluttered toolbars in Word.

Aren't there a half dozen or so other websites that sell/do the exact same thing as this kid? As well as likely hundreds of eBay sellers?

So, what I missing here? Why all the scrutiny for this kid?

Plus, his website clearly says they're non-OEM parts. So I really don't get all the negative hooplah here.

Single source hardware is an asset to server reliability, not a detriment. Compare linux uptimes to AIX, Solaris, or HPUX, and there's no contest. Having 1 company on the hook for everything helps make things run way more smoothly. The trend towards linux in the data center is a detriment that mirrors wall street, with short term costs overruling long term benefit.

As they used to say, "nobody has ever been fired for buying IBM." I think its safer to buy from a company that has a name and decent reputation in the server business is safer than Apple who has a recent history of pulling out of the business and never offered the variety of hardware and services of any of the major players. Even ignoring the high end players, I'd say that, for instance, a Dell server with Red Hat Linux would be a safer investment than who knows what from Apple these days. Ignoring the small choices available for Apple servers today, what happens if they discontinue the Mac Pro altogether? What if Lion Server is "defeatured" to make it easier for home server setups?

Finalcut, the GameStop copy may say "PC" but Blizzard's games are playable on both Mac and PC using the same disc. Even on GameStop if you open up the System Requirements, under OS it says "Windows / Mac."

That being said, the code that GameStop is usable for both PCs and Macs. The code activates the game in your account, from there you can either download the PC installer or the Mac installer. I'm downloading the Mac installer right now (I got the code about 1.5 hours ago but I was in the middle of a final) and it says it will take about 70 minutes to complete (big file...).

Excited to play, even if it is a little glitchy at first I've been waiting for this game for a LONG time, wish I would've known I could've entered the beta before now. I have the newest Core i7 15" MBP so it'll be interesting to see how it handles that hardware, it should be plenty capable.

Must be nice to be able to spend all day standing in line. I have to earn my iPad 2 today by going to work. I plan on getting there at 4:00pm sharp, save me a white 32gb with an orange cover please :-)

My job is standing in line

Mall security is getting anal about sitting in front of stores. They came by and measured out from the store opening and if you are in the way they make you move.

On a good note the Nestle toll house cookie store is starting to open.

Yea unless he's awarded another Pulitzer that is...

Apple is really disgusting me with this $#*(%&*( behavior. They really need to completely reevaluate their criteria and make it CRYSTAL EFFING CLEAR what IS and was IS NOT acceptable and then stand by it. None of this 'reject Google Voice because it duplicates functionality' and then 'approve the Opera web browser'. Reject an APP because it 'ridicules public figures' and then plead that the author to resubmit it once he's awarded a Pulitzer...

This wishy washy crap is really showing everyone just how UNDERHANDED they treat the whole process.

They certainly need to do better, but there is no such thing as "crystal effing clear" in the censorship of media content. They will never make all sides happy. They at least need to keep in line with their history as a company that promotes "Think Different" in their PR. Suppressing ideas and creativity certainly doesn't fall under that flag.
