Sorry guys. I was asking how much of Apple does Bill Gates actually own via stock, not the market share that Apple has. This info is very hard to find.

You poor boy. Will this leave a lasting scar? It wasn't 100 pages for me anyway as I view more *posts per page. So there. :p

No need to be a douche, and for the record, peapody is female.

I was actually surprised to see she hadn't started the latest thread! She posts enough in them so I guess it doesn't matter though ;)

    Latest for me...

You're not alone. This happens for me too, including with this update. Even after a reboot. It didn't do it with any of the 4.0.x releases either. It started with 4.2 I think. Tap an app icon, freezes for a second, then the app appears with no animation. Or a very choppy animation.

I've tried both rebooting and restoring (as a new phone). I had less than a gigabyte free so I tried freeing up some space thinking that might help and even with ~2GB free it still does it.

4.2 was fine for me with regards to UI animations. It was on 4.3 that it all started.

UI navigation is definitely, for me, vastly improved over .1 in .2, but still the third party app "bug" exists.

This is a great move by Apple. The iPhone 5 will be delayed so they need something in the meantime to help push some extra sales.

Parallels sucks but until now its been the only REAL game in town. Boo hoo I'm not paying for an app that IMHO is half baked to begin with. At least I'm not outright going in search of a seral number and pirating the thing. Again its a tide me over until VM gets their butt in gear and releases this thing.

Ahh ok - so if I dont like something then I dont have to pay for it? $80 for an app that, by your own admission, you are using all day every day doesnt sound a lot whether you like the app or not.

It seems like a major problem with this would be the fact that you get no tactile feedback. However, I have tapping enabled on my iBook and I don't find it odd or uncomfortable at all then I "click" on something. I'm sure it would take some getting used to, but I imagine that it could work.

Don't ruin the fun. We still have to make 2038 theories about the world ending. :D

The sordid truth of MS is that there are so many pain-in-the-butt issues that this following year they are seriously going to loose market to Apple and OSX.

What do you expect?! If a very important leader like the president got killed by the Taliban, the Americans would be very angry and would want revenge. Same goes to the Taliban. It will only make situations worse. Let's just hope that it doesn't.They also mocked us saying we would never catch him. Well we caught him and we won't stop.

Well. I have to say Bravo! VMWare!!!!
It use SOOOOOOO little amount of memory compare to Parallels (4xxMB vs 2.xxGB), so there is better system performance. I cannot wait to test it on my Macbook but the different on my Mac Pro was HUGE!!

I agree. VMware is already very good for a private beta (don't ask me how I got it ;)). Very fast already, and the app itself starts up about 5x faster than Parallels. And it uses a Cocoa native interface yay!

One question, what is he doing to that rabbit?

    What a strange clip!

Hehehehehe... when I was watching that I thought the rabbit was gonna spin around and eat the little guy!

Kinda like Microsoft were the big guy and Apple were the lil' guy...

In response to the ebay comment, why are they seemingly so dumb? I wanted to buy a new canon lens recently and i always buy my photography equipment from B&H (probably the most reputable place on the planet) but first i looked on ebay to see if i could get a used one for a lot less. None of the auctions went for significantly less than new at B&H (especially when you factor in shipping) and at least one auction ended of about $30 more than retail. I dont get it! Don't people do ANY research?

Since I couldn't find it posted yet: not only does the 15" model come with 1 GB standard now, it's also in an 'upgrade friendly' way: 1 x 1 GB instead of 2 x 512. So, if you want to upgrade your memory later, you can do it fully and are not stuck with an extra module.

I've currently got a single 1GB stick in a three year old PB - will that be OK to swap into a new MBP?

Line at Brea Mall is to Macy's, probably about 150-200 people here.

Any idea how fast these lines move? This'll be the first time I've camped out for a product.

Wow, that is pretty crazy. I didn't think there would be long lines like this.

Once the line starts moving, it should move fairly quickly. All hands will be on deck at Apple and hopefully people have figured out which version they're purchasing in line.

Aren't we quickly getting to the point where it's all about the software?

Yes. I really wouldn't care if iPhone hardware upgrades came every 2 years. Just keep those iOS updates coming! That's the more important part now.

I still like my cd's (of not very known bands). And also I wouldn't buy songs from the artists listed in the article:p

I wonder if this new pricing scheme is being enabled by the record labels with lower wholesale pricing to Amazon (to try, yet again, to take power out of Apple's hands), or if Amazon is simply doing this at a loss?

Why would Amazon want to take a loss - to support non-Apple mp3 players?

For Apple, they are not making much, if any money - they always planned it as a break-even business - the real value was the content eco-system tied to their products (= value for customers).

this very thread and the sales thereof indicate a HUGE interest in being able to view Flash on iOS devices and no amount of BS nonsense on your part will change that fact.

The popularity of SkyFire is a wake-up call to website owners to update their media inventory from legacy Flash wrappers to HTML5.

Your implication that people would return an iOS device based on just a single feature alone is ludicrous.

Flash is either a mission-critical for people or it is not. Evidently it is not mission-critical to the owners of 120M+ iOS devices.

I've pointed out there is no equivalent of the iPod Touch from Android and therefore no reasonable alternative regardless of one's feelings about the inability to view Flash web sites.

Makes no difference. If Flash were mission-critical, they wouldn't be using an iPad.

Instead of just acknowledging that not everyone likes Steve Jobs decision to not allow Flash

We're all very clear you don't like the decision. There are plenty of Flash fanboys. If they want Flash in browsers, they shouldn't use iPhones, iPads, or iPod Touches.

The owners of 120M+ iOS devices are doing just fine without Flash. There are serious problems with Flash on laptop and desktop computers:

Too many laptop users are tired of the CPU loading and battery suck of Flash apps.

Too many users don't like that Flash alters the UI inside of the browsers: altered scrolling behavior, keyboard shortcuts that don't work in Flash, text searches that don't work with text in a Flash app.

Too many privacy advocates are bothered that Flash maintains a separate set of cookies and those cookies do not honor the privacy settings of the browser. Commercial websites are using those Flash cookies to track users.

Too many security advocates are wary of using Adobe products because of Adobe's poor track record against security attacks.

You can't competently address those serious concerns with Flash in a browser.

(hardly an unreasonable opinion to have and clearly shared by everyone who bought this app to be able to view those sites)

See above. There are serious fundamental problems with Flash on websites. There's also a fundamental problem with Flash for advertisers: more users are blocking their ads with click-to-flash blockers every day. Putting your content in Flash now decreases the odds that it will be seen by users.

Adobe understands all of this. They are providing tools to update sites from Flash to HTML5 ( Sites should do the same and get their videos updated to HTML5. Lose the Flash, and you'll be able to serve up your content to all browser users on all platforms.

I'm sure there's some reason you're unhappy with that solution. That's fine. You're welcome to be a Flash Luddite if you wish.
