MICKEY MOUSE: The Nifty Nineties (1941)

This wonderful cartoon is overflowing with lavish trademark Disney art. As well as "in" jokes! Note the "Fred & Ward" on the vaudeville bill. That's a reference to animators Freddie Moore & Ward Kimball. "Professor Churchill, pianos tuned" pays tribute to studio composer Frank Churchill. And "Walter D's Hats That Please" is a non-too-subtle reference to Walt Disney himself.

I've also included a re-created pan with Mickey and Minnie in front of the elaborate theatre, complete with marquee and box office.

No wonder artists shook their heads in amazement at the level of artistry in the Disney shorts. These cartoons exude style and charm!Source URL: http://lifestyleartsblogs.blogspot.com/2007/10/mickey-mouse-nifty-nineties-1941.html
