February Weddings

After a hot and busy January, February was full of wedding plans for us and two beautiful weddings in the middle of the month.

Angela and Daniel married on 14 February at the Melbourne Zoo.

And Kristy and Daniel married on 15 February at All Smiles Yarra Valley.

JUNGLE BOOK... another look...

A few weeks ago I posted the JUNGLE BOOK background below.

Tonight, I realized after Baloo smashes through the doorway, we get an expanded view not only through the opened doorway, but also a significant pan to the left. (The door is obviously an animated cel overlay.)

Here's the terrific new digitally re-assembled result!

Back with THE JUNGLE BOOK!

I was without internet service for several days, and my laptop imploded. Geez!

So, with my laptop in the shop, and no internet, I had plenty of time to sit with my desktop computer, and digitally re-assemble some background art. I never get tired of Disney's THE JUNGLE BOOK. Here are five "new" B/G pieces.

Finally, today (with a different service provider) I once again have digital internet access. Yay!

    Glad to be back!

    A wonderful reconstructed pan B/G

So you can savor the details and texture, its left side...

    and right side...

    and some more...

Baby Georgia - Neenah Baby and Child Photography

My best friend Joey (Jocelyn) came up for a very special portrait session earlier this month. Her little baby just turned one and it was time for some awesome photos.

You might remember me doing her newborn session in their Milwaukee home last year. I designed custom baby announcements that were printed on linen paper...

Well little Georgia Grace has changed quite a bit. Here are some favs from the session. Enjoy!

This is a girl who loves shoes... and it was one of her very first words. I'm sure she makes mommy proud!

Cute dress Georgia wore for her first birthday - her daddy bought it while he was in China

We finished off the session with a trip to the library - one-year-old 's love books!

Congratulations Joey and Josh on a beautiful little girl!

Cozy

    I made a quilted cozy
    for Manolo's French press
    using my little succulent stamps.
(When stamping on fabric always use ink pads
    intended for that purpose)
I was inspired by this beautiful cozy.
    That gorgeous white mug
made it all the way to Mexico from
the talented hands of Nancy Bauch of
    White Forest Pottery
I've been making so many birdies lately
that I decided to challenge myself
to a month of bird-free art starting today,
let's see if I can make it ;)

BagTV: The Latest Fashion Accessory?

FASHION/TECHNOLOGY - Jon Marquis's new purse design for 2009 gives fresh meaning to the term "as seen on TV."

In a town obsessed with who carries what, be it the current love affair with Mulberry's "Bayswater," Anya Hindmarsh's green shopper sensation of the "I'm Not a Plastic Bag" canvas tote, or the holy grail of coveted accessories, the Hermès Birkin, Marquis has found what might be the ultimate "It bag" niche.

It has a built-in DVD player, complete with a 7-inch flat screen on the side.

And it's not nearly as tacky as it sounds. In fact, the high-end leather totes are downright chi-chi.

Marquis says his plan was to take advantage of the increasing supply of gadgetry that women carry in their purses, including iPods and cellphones that can record or carry video, but only offer mini screens for any actual viewing.

"It is our belief that people don't really use these to watch films as the screens are too small," he says of the devices, calling his BagTV the "must-have accessory for true trend followers."

The product, he says, is ideal for frequent travellers who have spent too much time waiting around airports for their flights or stuck in hotel rooms with little choice on TV.

He says his market research shows that mothers with small children are buying the bags – first available in Britain in December – as a portable entertainment option for their kids.

"We have found in research that the bags appeal to both fashion-conscious women and also women with children, who might want to just keep the kids quiet. They can now just say to them, `Watch my bag!'"

The BagTV is a classic shape that gives a respectful nod to the Birkin, and comes in black and red patent leather, as well as white, tan, pink and a fetchingly nautical navy and white combo for spring.

Two brass clasps secure a cover over the screen, which looks like a pocket when it is not in use.

The purse also houses a lightweight DVD and mpeg player, a USB port and an SD card slot for viewing photographs.

Also tucked inside is a separate stand so that the screen can be used on its own.

The battery lasts for 2 1/2 hours and can be recharged on the go using the dashboard cigarette lighter in a car.

All this technology in such a pretty package doesn't come cheap.

    It sells on the company's website (bagtv.com) for £295 (about $550 Canadian or $440 US).Source URL: http://lifestyleartsblogs.blogspot.com/2009/02/

From the heart

To my Brother, yeah, he deserves it.

Well Ema, you passed both your exams, the one we were all freaked out about and the one I was sure you'd do great on (in fact you did). Anyway, bravo bravo! You're now an offically diplomated freak with a trombone! I'm sure you'll have a great career and remember to invite me over when you're the first trombone of the Berliner.Source URL: http://lifestyleartsblogs.blogspot.com/2009/02/
