Gelatomio @ Genting Highland

A big fan of ice cream but afraid of getting fat? No worries, Gelatomio serve you the premium ice cream up to 99% fat-free! Mom used to told me when we were in Korea, "Fight the cold with ice cream!" and we had ice cream in the freaking cold night! Imagine that, its snowing everywhere in Korea with negative temperature! But it was a great try tho.

I've been a big fan of Gelato ever since I tried one in Mid Valley *can't recall what's the brand*. Happen to be at the cooling peak, Genting Highland, besides having some hot cuppa at Starbucks, I'll surely look around for ice cream! Ahha, spotted Gelatomio at First World Plaza! You can sample them before purchase. I sampled a few and made up my mind. There are cup, cone, waffle cup, and many more choices available for your selection. I chose the cup one which comes in small, regular and large. Small cup (2 scoops), Regular cup (3 scoops) and Large cup (4 scoops).

Regular Cup comes with 3 Scoops RM10.60 (Banana Yogurt, Dark Choc & Tiramisu). This 3 flavors are awesome! Dark choc tasted a lil bitter but yums! Banana yogurt is love! I like the combination of banana and yogurt, full of banana flavor even mashed up with yogurt. Tiramisu is a MUST if you fond of alcohol flavored ice cream. Very flavorful and rich with a light percentage of alcohol, tasted like a rum ice cream.

    Banana Yogurt

    Tiramisu

    Dark Chocolate

Gelatomio offers fresh made Gelato, all made from 100% natural ingredients and strictly no animal fat, co colorings, no artificial flavorings, no preservative and no gelatin! Their non-alcohol ice cream flavors are Halal-certified so no worries for the Muslims. In addition, the milk based ice cream average 95% fat-free while the water based ice cream is 99% fat free! This brand carries more than 50 flavors, providing customers with wide range of selections.

Wide range of selection inclusive of fruits sorbet!

Choose your favorite flavor ice cream here!

    What is Gelato?
"Premium ice creams made with fresh cream (not condensed/powdered milk), real eggs, and natural flavorings.Quality ingredients aside, lesser ice creams also have more air whipped in . As much as half the carton may be air, in fact. More air or overrun meaning softer ice cream that scoops more easily and melts more quickly. Premium ice creams have very little air added and gelato has no air added at all. (There's a minimal amount of air that is incorporated naturally because of the churning process.)"

Try Gelatomio, the traditional Italian ice cream today if you have not try any!

Gelatomio spotted at First World Plaza, Lot No F/L2.C9, Level T2

Overall, the ice cream gives a full flavor taste and more important low fat which suits ice cream freak like me!

Banana Leaf Rice @ Sri Nirvana Maju, Bangsar.

I am always an avid fan of banana leaf rice(BLR) since I was a kid. Dad used to bring us for Indian/Malay foods especially during festive season to friend's open house. Since then, I love their food a lot instead of Chinese food *seriously*. Well, it's been awhile since my last BLR, it was back then during my Form six at Anderson, Ipoh. There was a famous cafe/canteen located at Anderson school, it is a cafe cater to the Andersonian. I felt grateful that I was in that school for my Form Six and always drop by at the cafe for my BLR fix. Back then, me and the bestie used to have our meal there after class. The BLR comes with an unlimited refill of veggies, gravy and papadum and always order an additional dish->Curry Mutton! Ahhhh, how I misses those days!

Woops, get back on our topic today, the BLR at Bangsar. So, what so interesting about this BLR? I believe many of you heard about that before or you are a regular customer of Nirvana Maju. Well, do not laugh at me because this is my FIRST VISIT after hearing how famous it is for a long time.

Woke up late on a Saturday and searching for brunch with mom. Since we gonna hang out and shop around at BSC, brought mom to Sri Nirvana Maju for our first meal of the day. Walked to the shop and to our surprise, we need to get in line for a table! If you know me well, I never like to queue in long line for food. But there is always exceptional for good food. Waited for 15minutes and got our table, shared with a Chinese couple. First time dining at this restaurant, I have totally no idea what to order or how to order *pai seh*.

Sri Nirvana Maju serve South Indian cuisine and HALAL food. Famed for its BLR besides Roti Cana, Thosei, Maggi Goreng, etc. You can choose to dine in the coffee-shop setting or al-fresco dining on the corridor.

    See..full house on a Saturday!

Here you go with the foods:
BLR with 3 side servings of (L-R): Fried Bitter Gourd, Bayam and Cucumber Salad. My rice was laden with my all time favorite curry gravy-> Fish Curry (Rice Meen Curry).

BLR comes with an assortment of vegetables and curry gravy such as Rice Meen Curry (Fish Curry), Koli Curry (Chicken Curry) and Dhal (Boiled Lentils). I love my BLR side servings/vegetables especially the Fried Bitter Gourd, it is so addictive that I asked for another refill *Additional charge of RM2 for each refill*. The "Bayam" cooked with Lentils tasted good as well and the cucumber salad did not disappoint me as am very picky on cucumbers.

The BLR set comes with crispy Papadam (Indian Crackers).

Additional orders: Ikan Bawal RM25. The fish was fried to perfection, very crispy on the outside and fresh enough. Douse with the lime and there you go->Perfecto!

Another plate of additional order: Deep Fried Sotong RM10 (serving for 2). The sotong was well-marinated, fried with chili and curry leaves which gives an aromatic smell to the plate. Topped with onions and squeeze on some lime juice, a taste of spicy and sour *salivate*

Sri Nirvana Maju serve decent Banana Leaf Rice at RM6/meal. The set comes with white rice, 3 types of vegetables, Papadam, Curry and Rasum. Every additional refill of vegetables/side servings will be charge at RM2. Writing this makes me crave for more and I'll definitely go back for more especially the Fried Bitter Gourd. Nirvana's BLR is so addictive that I'll never get bore with it!

The bill surprised me totaling up to RM52.30 for 2 pax! Anyway, it is fine since its our first visit having BLR in KL.

Lunch Promotion @ Brotzeit Bier Bar & Restaurant Mid Valley.

A late update on my weekend trip to KL again, yea again, boring can? Was in town for another interview session and yes I got offered! Tagged mom along and treated her to an awesome German yums that I've been telling her so long. Went to the career fair by Jobstreet at exhibition hall, a quick scan and collected alot of "recycle paper" =P. Hungryyyy...... brought mom to Brotzeit!! Mom was like: R u sure? *psst, she thought it was some expensive food*. And yeah, I am sure I want to try out the new lunch promo!!

Hmm, let's see what we have on the menu. There's 8 choices available for your selection! You will get a FREE dessert when you order soup of the day/garden salad+1 main dishes.

Soup of the day : Pumpkin soup. RM6.  My all time favorite!! I got shocked when served because I thought those are oils floating on the soup. Fret not, they are something tasted like sauce. The soup was a great one! Everything was well blended, indeed a perfect bowl!

Sour Dough Bread. This is serve along with the soup. Mom love this so much as she always picky on her favorite bread/pastries. She said it tasted like cake! Haha, anyway, I love this side serve too! The freshly baked sour dough bread goes well with the pumpkin soup. It is quite chewy and soft while the edge is crispy! Even though savoring the bread alone give it a "ohm!"

Pumpkin Soup + Sour Dough Bread (RM6)

Nürngerber Chicken Sausages RM12. (Grilled chicken sausages on Pretzel bread served with fries). The chicken sausage is damn good! Not the ordinary sausages you bought from supermarket or had during breakfast at a 4 star rated hotel! Once again, mom love the bread. LMAO! Do not look down on this plate even it comes with only 3 sausages, it is hard to finish the whole plate! Get surprise with the portion *if you are not a heavy meal person esp females*!

Mozzarella Pork Fillet Sandwich RM13 (Sliced boiled ham, pork fillet, tomatoes & gratinated mozzarella on sour dough bread). I absolutely love this especially the boiled ham, never thought a boiled ham can taste this good! Wish I could have more of the ham *greedy*. Although am not a big fan of fries but Brotzeit serves good fries! Sprinkles with some peppers and salt, mom said there's herbs too!

Ok, here's a clearer picture on the pork fillet sandwich I had. The base was sour dough bread and second layer is the boiled ham. Third layer is the pork fillet and lastly topped with mozzarella cheese. This is absolutely finger licking good piece! *aww, I miss the ham*!

Here's the sauce served. From the left is mustard sauce, nameless sauce and chilli sauce. Haha, me and mom love the middle sauce so much till we asked for more!

Tadaa! It tasted like satay sauce but it is not satay peanut sauce! Wanted to ask the manager but he is too busy working around. Hmm, guess it's some kind of German sauce eh?

Dessert of the day. It is FREE since we ordered 2 set of soups. It was a vanilla pudding with strawberry syrup at the bottom. Topped with "kua chee"/almond toppings, not sure about that, tasted alike. Well, I still prefer desserts on the menu than this. Not because of it is free so it has poorer taste. It is because I am not into strawberry syrups. =P Anyway, not a big let down.

Dessert: Vanilla pudding with strawberry syrup.

    Insta-ed dessert!

If you are looking for good German food at affordable rate, you should try Brotzeit! The lunch promotion is available at 11am-3pm from Monday-Saturday. The lunch promo starting from RM8.90!! Where to find good German food at cheap price moreover a fulfilling portion if not Brotzeit?

Kita No Zen, Hokkaido Ichiba @ The Gardens, Mid Valley City.

If u read my previous post, you'll notice I blogged about Hokkaido Ichiba's ice cream. And now I'm going to blog about the food! Hokkaido Ichiba is the one that serve ice cream so the F&B ones would be Kita No Zen. Although the earthquake/tsunami in Japan happened just happened, moreover comes along with the radiation thingy, it does not affect the Jap food business here. Many people dine here especially during peak hour where you will need to queue in line. Being a big fan of Jap food, nothing beats me from hunting down the nyam nyam Nihon food!
Kita no Zen @ The Gardens Mall

Soft Shell Crab Temaki (Fried Soft Shell Crab Handroll) RM7/handroll

Eat it when it is served freshly. Easily chomp it down when the seaweed is still crunchy. The fried soft shell crab is very crispy and not overly fried or oily. *thumbs up*

Ankou Karaage (Fried Angler Fish) RM12. Squeeze few drops of lemon and go with the mayonese sauce. The fish was perfectly fried to golden brown and it taste great with a tad of salty flavor.

Buri Kama Shioyaki (Grilled Yellow Tail Neck) RM22

Another type of fish. I'm not into exploring species of fishes on the planet but this fish taste real good! Perfectly grilled and not charred. Squeeze on some lemon juice and eat it when freshly served. Juicy and yummy! The only downside was it is salty when you eat till the bottom part where you can see rocks of salt with bare eyes.

Oki Sashimi Moriawase (7 kinds) Akami, Kanpachi, Salmon, Amaebi, Hotate, Hirame & Ika. RM100.

All of them were freshly sliced raw fish.

    Insta-ed Sashimi shot!

*My apology for the bad resolution of pictures.
