Inspire Me Thursday: SHOW AND TELL ART

This week's challenge at Inspire Me Thursday was to create a piece of art in any medium and tell you guys all about it…how I made it, how I was feeling when I made it, if I'm happy with it, what will I do with it…details, details, details! So here goes:

I've been having a crafty fever lately... so I decided to make myself something to hang by my bedside to contemplate when I go to sleep and when I wake up in the morning...something pretty and inspiring. I'd never done a mobile before so I surfed the web to get some ideas on how to make one. After much investigating I got my supplies: Wire, pliers and my usual watercolors, paper and glue. I first created the wire skeleton of the mobile. I really enjoyed this process a lot because it was very intuitive and a big challenge to get everything balanced! Then I cut up all the leaves in different shapes and sizes and colored them with my trusty watercolors. After that it was planning and deciding where to put what...a lot of thinking was involved in this project :-)

I'm so happy with this piece! I really liked how all the colors work together and the movement of the whole thing is hypnotizing and very soothing. Here's a detail where you can see the leaves up close. (You can click on it to see it bigger)

These other photos are of the finished piece hanging next to my bed, above my night table. The mobile looks specially cool against the dark moss color of the wall. My kids loved it so much they want to have one of their own too...so I might be posting some more mobiles soon...

I really loved doing this. Thanks again Melanie & Misty for your wonderful ideas and inspiration to get creative!

I also want to thank everyone that comments on this blog...you guys are awesome! And thanks for visiting :-)Source URL: https://lifestyleartsblogs.blogspot.com/2006/06/inspire-me-thursday-show-and-tell-art.html
